“Following a cystoscopy at Harrogate Hospital I left with more questions than answers as to my condition. This was causing me some anxiety so I decided that I needed to understand more about the treatment and my condition. I was under Mr Gill at Harrogate District Hospital but his registrar carried out the procedure, so I researched his details and contacted his secretary to arrange a private consultation. She understood the stress I was under and managed to arrange me an appointment within a few days.
On meeting Mr Gill I immediately felt that I would be in safe hands. His manner was very calm and understanding and he answered all my questions very clearly and in a way that I could easily understand. He explained everything about my previous procedure, what the registrar had found during the cystoscopy and what the next investigation would involve. He understood why I was anxious and clearly went through all the possible outcomes to put me at ease with the previous and forthcoming procedures.
Mr Gill carried out the second procedure which was a biopsy, and the aftercare was excellent both from Mr Gill and his surgical team. Also, Mr Gill personally followed up and contacted me on the results of the biopsy, which I felt was over and above his normal duties but very much appreciated.
